My name is Garrett Spoor. I am a class of 2023 graduate from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I was born and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana. I have a passion for writing, editing, content creation and design. Education

I started at Ball State University in August 2019. Through all four years, I maintained a double major in Journalism and Telecommunication News before my graduation in 2023. I have participated in multiple student media organizations as a writer, videographer and anchor. I have taken immersive learning courses at Ball State, such as advanced newswriting, advanced reporting and special topics focused on racial, socio-economic, gender and cultural awareness.

Student Media

At Ball State University, I participated in several student media organizations to develop experience in all facets of journalism. I started as a sports writer with the Ball State Daily News prior to the pandemic, before transitioning into an editor and videographer for Byte BSU. I also served as an anchor, producer, director and teleprompter for NewsLink Indiana during the Spring 2022 semester.

Internship Experience

I started my three-month internship with WANE-15 News in January of 2023. I worked 18 hours across two days each week. The experience helped me enhance my skills with web writing, news producing, reporting and researching. The internship helped me become more up-to-date with local news and gain more program experience. I was also tasked with studio production responsibility during the live shows every Thursday.

Hoops Habit

In February 2023, I started writing for Hoops Habit. The site is one of 300 under the FanSided brand. Writing for this website has given me a pathway to express my opinions on something I am extremely passionate about in the NBA. This experience has given me a better understanding of SEO skills, refurbishing headlines and utilizing other media for web writing as well.

Following my graduation from Ball State University in May 2023, I became a New Media Journalist with GreatNews.Life. The position has given me the chance to work with photography, write articles and my interviewing skills in a timely fashion. This position allows me to cover businesses, events and spotlighted individuals in Northwest Indiana.

YouTube Brand

The name of my YouTube channel is Supermariohoops24. I utilize other platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter, to promote my content as well. The page focuses on collaborative and unique NBA-related content. Occasionally, there is some Mario gameplay or real life basketball videos to serve as specialty videos, typically for when subscriber milestones are reached.
